
On the evening of September 22, the tranquility of Pennsylvania Avenue in Baltimore was disrupted by the piercing alert of ShotSpotter, as authorities were called to the 2700 block following reports of a shooting. The incident, as reported by the Baltimore Police Department, left Jasmine Simuel, 33, fatally wounded, and her passing was confirmed at a local hospital.
In the days that followed, Baltimore Police Department's detectives engaged in an investigation that led them to 38-year-old Teresa Collins, also of Baltimore; according to the department's press release, Collins now faces charges for the alleged involvement in the homicide.
The arrest, made on Thursday, marks a turn in the investigation wherein Collins was charged with first-degree murder and subsequently held without the possibility of bail at the Central Booking Intake Facility.
