A Baytown Christian Academy teacher, identified as 56-year-old Hespero Jingco, is currently detained on accusations of sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl, according to court documents. Jingco, who also worked at a home-based daycare operated by his wife, faces charges of super-aggravated sexual assault of a child and is held on a $150,000 bond. The Houston Chronicle disclosed that Jingco was arrested following a report from another daycare employee who witnessed him behaving inappropriately with a young girl attending the daycare.
As per the ABC13 report, charging documents indicated that the concerned employee informed the victim's mother about her daughter being in precarious situations with Jingco. This prompted the mother to take action. The Baytown Police Department has stated that the safety of the community's children is a paramount concern, but due to the sensitive nature of the case, they are restricted from disclosing further details.
Kevin Frauenberger, the headmaster at Baytown Christian Academy, assured the public that Jingco underwent the requisite criminal background checks before his employment. “The allegations did not involve any BCA students and did not occur at BCA or during the school year. The safety and well-being of our students is a top priority for us,” Frauenberger asserted in a statement provided to the Houston Chronicle.
Neighbors of Jingco expressed shock upon learning of the allegations, with Sreerag Sudheeran telling ABC13, "What he did is just pure evil. We can't tolerate that as a community or as families. We got kids here, running around playing around. We can't let this happen," Sudheeran mentioned that Jingco, who had previously claimed to have been a priest, never spoke about working with children during casual neighborhood interactions.
