Boulder County's Senior Law Day is providing a beacon of support for older adults, their families, and caregivers with a free event focused on vital legal and lifestyle matters. According to Boulder County, the informational fair slated for Saturday, September 21, will encompass expert talks on Medicaid and long-term care, estate planning, and how to spot and avoid scams, among other topics. Participants looking to bolster their legal savvy will find the doors of the Longmont Senior Center open from 8:15 a.m. to allow time to connect with resources before the day kicks off at 9 a.m.
This year, attendees will not only receive invaluable knowledge but can also sit down for one-on-one consultations in the highly anticipated Ask-A-Lawyer sessions, these sessions are free, they're first-come, first-served, and they offer individuals fifteen minutes with legal professionals to discuss personal concerns. Views on various subjects including fiduciary duties, the nuances of dementia caregiving, elder rights, and abuse prevention will also be illuminated through educational presentations, as indicated in the Boulder County announcement.
The Longmont Senior Center, located at 910 Longs Peak Ave., Longmont, will serve as the nucleus for engagement and exchange during the morning event. Each participant will also have the opportunity to obtain a copy of the Colorado Bar Association’s 2024 Senior Law Handbook, a critical tool in navigating the complexities of senior law, as the event winds down at noon.
In keeping with its mission to educate and empower, Senior Law Day has expanded its offerings to include consultations with Medicare Counselors and experts in fraud/scam protection, and a power of attorney Q&A hosted by local specialists, this integration of services embodies the event’s comprehensive approach to addressing the legal and health care planning needs of its attendees. A continental breakfast will be provided to all who attend, ensuring that the body, as well as the mind, is nurtured during this significant community undertaking.
