In preparation for the 2024 General Election, Boulder County is setting the stage for a transparent and accurate vote count. On Tuesday, October 8, at 10 a.m., the Boulder County Elections Division will start a thorough logic and accuracy test of the ballots and equipment that will be central to the electoral process this fall, as reported by Boulder County. This public procedure, although with limited space and thus requiring an RSVP, is part of a rigorous verification system designed to ensure the county's voting infrastructure is up to the task ahead, and that no ballot is misread or mishandled by the scanning apparatus in place.
The tests are meticulous and comprehensive, extending across every ballot and all ballot styles to ensure that the printing and scanning do not falter when the citizens express their will through the ballot, they'll also include settings calibration on the scanning equipment to make sure when votes are tabulated they reflect the true intention of the voter. According to Boulder County, the testing is scheduled to last until 5 p.m. and will stretch into the next day if necessary, with the anticipation that a Test Board review of the results, the consequential sign-off, the resetting, and the resealing of the equipment will follow the completion of this crucial verification process.
The venue for this critical pre-election event is Boulder County's Ballot Processing Center, located at the County Clerk & Recorder’s Office at 1750 33rd Street in Boulder. As the tests are open to public observation, interested individuals are urged to secure their spot due to the aforementioned space limitations, they can do so by sending an email to [email protected] or by calling 303-413-7740, but the deadline is tight, they have until 5 p.m. on the preceding Monday, October 7, to send their RSVP.
