The City of Boulder has announced an extension to the registration deadline for its pilot Community and Council Forum, now slated for Thursday, Sept. 26. Community members interested in reserving one of the ten open participant seats originally had until today to enter into a randomized selection process. Following a surge in community interest, prompted by a newspaper article published this morning, the signup deadline will now be 4 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 23, as reported by the City of Boulder.

Those looking to potentially join the forum are urged to use the sign-up form located on the city's website. The Clerk's Office is scheduled to e-mail successful applicants by Monday evening. Participants are required to attend in person on the night of the event. The purpose of the forum is to foster discussion on the Economic Development Plan and Program Enhancements alongside city council members. Those not selected can still observe the forum either in person or virtually, without the need to sign up in advance.

The forum's agenda includes a portion dedicated to facilitated breakout dialogue circles, which won't be held in the traditional setting of the Council Chambers to better accommodate participant and observer engagement. These circles will be dispersed throughout the Penfield Tate II Municipal Building. While not all segments of the evening will be live-streamed, Channel 8 and the City of Boulder YouTube channel will broadcast the sessions taking place within the Council Chambers.

Designed as an avenue to involve community voices early in the decision-making process, the City of Boulder's initiative emerged from feedback through the Better Public Meetings Project. After a staff presentation, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and to effectively engage in small group discussions. Community members are welcome to observe either in person or through the live streaming services, with the latter being available on Channel 8 as well as the City of Boulder’s YouTube channel.
