Calling all Boulder residents. If you've got big dreams for the future of Boulder Valley, here's your chance to bring them to life. The City of Boulder and Boulder County are ramping up for a major revamp of the Boulder Valley Comprehensive Plan (BVCP), and you're invited to throw your two cents in. The Dairy Arts Center is playing host to an Open House on October 19 from 1 to 4 p.m., where anyone with a stake in Boulder's future can come and get heard.
"Rarely can community members share their biggest dreams on any topic for the future of Boulder and the Boulder Valley," said Brad Mueller, City of Boulder Planning and Development Services Director, as obtained by Boulder County. Whether you've lived here your whole life or just unpacked your boxes, city and county directors want you there to brainstorm what comes next.
This isn't just a chance to chew the fat over urban planning, there'll be a keynote speech from State Demographer Elizabeth Garner on Colorado and Boulder's demographic and economic outlook. Plus, MOTUS Theater will be performing an improv that spins your stories into on-the-spot theatre. Kids won't get bored either, they've got activities for them lined up, too.
Dale Case, Director of Boulder County Community Planning & Permitting, mentioned everyone from Boulder and the neighboring areas is encouraged to come and join in. Hosting fun for kids and adults, the community will look and feel that the event is supposed to reflect the varied interests and demographics of those it serves. Don't worry about translation, there will be Spanish interpretation services.
If you can't make it on Oct. 19, take heart. The city says there's a whole two-year engagement process where you can get your say before the plan gets the green light in the summer of 2026. Remember, this isn’t just about Boulder City but includes the larger Boulder Valley area up to mountain backdrops on the west to 95th Street on the east and the south county line to Neva Road on the north. Mark the map, or better yet, mark your calendars.
