A daylight robbery in Brooklyn Park has left the community on alert. Just past mid-morning on Saturday, a man found himself staring down the barrel of a gun, as two assailants—one whom he may have recognized—robbed him in the 9600 block of Evergreen Ave N. The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 A.M., with the Brooklyn Park Police Department receiving the victim's report more than five hours later, around 4:00 P.M.
According to the report, the victim was coerced into surrendering his personal belongings under the menace of a firearm. Details about what was taken during the exchange have yet to be made public. However, the reverberations of the crime have been felt acutely throughout the neighborhood. The case, still under investigation, has unearthed questions about the delay in reporting the robbery, and the possible relationship between the victim and one of the suspects.
Brooklyn Park Police have not yet released descriptions of the suspects involved in the armed robbery, and as the investigation stiffens, there is a marked increase in police presence in and around Evergreen Ave. Residents are advised to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities immediately.
Local law enforcement urges anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward. The anonymity of those who tip off the police will be protected, attempting to ease the fear that might deter potential witnesses.
