In a significant crackdown on the opioid crisis gripping communities, the collaborative efforts of the Maricopa County Drug Suppression Taskforce and the Buckeye Police led to a successful drug bust in Buckeye, resulting in seven arrests and the confiscation of roughly 800 fentanyl pills.
The operation took place last Thursday when authorities executed a search warrant at a residence located at the intersection of Miller and Maricopa Roads. According to an official statement from the Buckeye Police Department, two main culprits were apprehended: 26-year-old Jose Martinez and 23-year-old Luis Salas, who face charges related to illegal drug sales.
While serving the search warrant, it was discovered that the rest of the individuals at the home, were also taken into custody, all with active warrants for their arrests. It illustrates a relentless commitment by law enforcement to not only chase down those at the forefront of illegal drug activities but also to ensnare those who attempt to lurk in the shadows. Buckeye Police have invested in this fight, assigning two investigators to the MCDST, underscoring the department's strategic approach to address drug trafficking across Arizona.
