Residents of Carrick experienced a jolt of violence last night as a 19-year-old man was rushed to the hospital following a shooting incident. According to a public safety report released by the Pittsburgh Police Department, emergency services were dispatched to the 100 block of Meredith Street close to 7:30 p.m. after receiving reports of an individual who had been shot. The official statement detailed that the victim, found inside a residence, sustained a gunshot wound to his upper right thigh but remained conscious and communicative with first responders.

The young man’s condition was stabilized at the scene, and he was taken to a nearby hospital by Pittsburgh EMS. As the neighborhood dealt with the shock, an investigation began. The Mobile Crime Unit came to collect evidence, and detectives from the Violent Crime Unit started looking into what happened.
