The City of Carrollton is gearing up for its 14th annual Festival at the Switchyard, slated for November 2. Rooted in community and celebration, the festival is calling on volunteers aged 16 and over to join the ranks, ensuring attendees a seamless experience packed with free family fun, entertainment from Grammy-winning rock band the Wallflowers, and a taste of Carrollton’s vibrant culture, according to the City of Carrollton.
Volunteers are set to play a crucial role in the festival's operations, assisting in all event phases including setup, managing activities, and visitor services, the city highlights a range of perks for volunteers, including a complimentary T-shirt, lunch, and premium parking, although these are available on a first-come, first-served basis and the city stipulates that those interested must be prepared to work a minimum of two hours outdoors. Notably, teenagers aged 14-15 may volunteer with adult supervision if affiliated with a school, church, or Scout group, and volunteers over 18 must clear a background check; those under 18 require a parent or guardian-signed waiver.
In addition to the volunteering angle, the Festival at the Switchyard is anticipated to not only bring the Wallflowers to the stage but also an ensemble of musical acts that span genres and decades, including alt-rockers Deep Blue Something famous for their hit "Breakfast at Tiffany's," and local high-energy party band Downtown Fever. Attendees are encouraged by the city to utilize DART to reach the Downtown Carrollton site, aiming to alleviate limited parking frustrations.
