Oregon lottery officials are urging players to check their tickets quickly, as three large unclaimed prizes will go back to the state soon. They encourage everyone to search through old tickets to see if they have a winning ticket.
According to a recent press release echoed by OregonLive, the unclaimed prizes include a $58,372.20 Keno ticket sold in Salem, set to expire on September 21, and two Powerball tickets — one worth $150,000 purchased in Bend expiring October 9 and another for $50,000 from Wilsonville due October 18. Each year, many unclaimed lottery prizes become a tradition as players miss out on winnings. In fiscal year 2024, the Oregon Lottery saw about $7.5 million in prizes go unclaimed and returned to state funds.
An Oregon Lottery representative highlighted the imminent deadline for these tickets, with KOIN reporting an appeal from Heidi Quiring, Manager of Player Services, who stated, “It’s time to check your junk drawer, coat pockets, and under the couch — anywhere a ticket could disappear,” She reminded everyone that, "After a year, the prizes can no longer be claimed."
If you think you may be a clueless winner of any prize above $50,000, it is crucial to schedule an appointment at the Prize Payment Center in Wilsonville or Salem.
