Chicagoans are set to enjoy a mostly sunny day with highs hovering around 72 degrees, as reported by the National Weather Service. The light breeze coming from the west northwest in the morning will shift to the northeast but is expected to remain gentle, with occasional gusts up to 15 mph.
The pleasant weather, however, carries with it an elevated fog risk today in rural northern Illinois, set to clear shortly after sunrise. While the city bathes in sunlight today, it is worth noting the upcoming hazardous conditions anticipated for Lake Michigan beaches this Friday and Saturday due to a high swim risk, as reported by the National Weather Service in a separate hazardous weather outlook.
Chicago's nighttime will revel in clarity with temperatures dropping to a low around 59 degrees. The rest of the week will see similar conditions with sunny days and partly cloudy nights, with temperatures consistently mild for this time of the year. However, a shift is on the horizon heading into the weekend, with rain expected from the remnants of Hurricane Helene, especially southeast of I-55, according to the National Weather Service Chicago.
Outside of maybe a lingering lake effect shower in northwest Indiana this morning, dry conditions with seasonable temps are favored through Friday. Rain from Hurricane Helene’s remnants may then be seen in parts of the area going into this weekend, especially southeast of I-55. pic.twitter.com/9GDtaoQ6c8

Residents and visitors planning to take to the waters should exercise caution on Friday and Saturday, with hazardous conditions for small craft likely to emerge. As the weekend approaches, the likelihood of showers increases, giving way to potential disruptions in outdoor plans.
