A Chicago man has been charged with attempted first-degree murder after being apprehended by authorities earlier this week. Gabriel Blakemore, a 46-year-old from the 5300 block of S. Marshfield Ave., stands accused of shooting a 33-year-old man on the evening of September 1, 2024, in the Austin neighborhood. The arrest was the result of a collaborative effort between the Great Lakes Regional Task Force and Area Four detectives, occurring in the 4500 block of W. West End Ave.

Details surrounding the offense indicate that the shooting took place at approximately 9:43 p.m. on the specified day. The victim was found injured in the 0-100 block of N. LeClaire Ave., within the 15th District, which has seen its share of gun violence.
