A dispute between two employees at a Cincinnati car wash escalated into a shooting that left one person hospitalized with serious injuries on Wednesday. The incident occurred shortly before 9 a.m. at the AAA Auto Wash located on Madison Road. According to WLWT, an employee shot a colleague during the confrontation before fleeing the scene. The suspect was later apprehended down the street. The victim was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and is expected to make a full recovery.
The shooter, identified by court documents as 46-year-old Derrick Lee of Millvale, admitted to having intentionally retrieved his firearm from his vehicle during the dispute. "Lee further admitted to firing two shots at the ground to ‘scare him off,’ which struck (his co-worker) in the legs, causing serious physical injuries," reported FOX19 NOW. Lee is currently being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center on charges of felonious assault and discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises, with his first court appearance scheduled for the next day.
Details of the argument that led to the shooting were not immediately clear, but it ended dramatically when Lee discharged the weapon. As reported by Local12, a Hamilton County deputy, who quickly arrived on the scene, assisted the victim by administering first aid. The responding officers have credited this rapid intervention with being pivotal in preserving the victim’s life, as the bullet struck a major artery in the victim's leg.
