A recent operation by the Citrus Heights Police Department has led to the arrest of a 32-year-old individual following a commercial burglary and ensuing vehicle pursuit. According to the Citrus Heights PD Facebook page, the suspect was caught after lifting a substantial amount of merchandise from a business on the 7900 block of Greenback Lane.
The store's loss prevention officers reported to authorities that the suspect had exited the store without paying for a significant haul of goods. Not long after, a vigilant patrol unit spotted the suspected vehicle, which led to an attempted traffic stop. However, the suspect refused to pull over, triggering a chase. The pursuit was brief as officers managed to block the fleeing vehicle and make an arrest. "During a search of the vehicle officers located a significant amount of stolen clothing valued at over $1100," the Citrus Heights PD reported.
Police later identified the arrestee as an acknowledged gang member, now facing charges for burglary and felony vehicle evasion. The apprehension was noted for its seamless coordination among various law enforcement components including loss prevention personnel, patrol officers, dispatchers, and the real time crime center which furnished critical information throughout the incident.
