The National Weather Service Cleveland reports clear skies and mild weather for the Cleveland area as we head into the weekend. Sharing an update to the aviation forecast, they've informed us that high pressure from West Virginia is trekking towards New England and will settle in nicely, ensuring a calm weather pattern with "mostly clear to fair weather conditions." according to the NWS report.
The temperatures are rising, too. Northeast Ohio is already clocking into the low 80s, while Northwest Ohio is in the mid-to-upper 80s. Don't be surprised if the thermometer pushes near 90 in some parts in the coming days. That's right. According to NWS Cleveland, a few more degrees will be needed, and Northeast Ohio will also touch the mid-80s, while Northwest Ohio could be flirting with those 90-degree days.
Aviators can expect "High pressure and VFR conditions" for their TAFs. Light easterly winds are slated to be around 5 knots, possibly a light lake breeze picking up in the afternoon. This breeze, however, will tuck itself away come evening with "mainly VFR expected through Sunday," the NWS Cleveland states.
And for those hitting the lake, the marine forecast suggests it's also an excellent time to set sail. NWS Cleveland assures a "mainly quiet marine period," with light flow expected today due to the high-pressure overhead. A slight uptick in the northeast flow to around 15 knots could keep things interesting into the weekend while remaining well within the safe bounds for those coastal adventures.
Of course, everything is still not entirely in the region. The remnants of Tropical System Francine will sniff around the outskirts of Ohio. Still, the existing dry mid-level air should keep them at bay, quelling any chance of precipitation, a continuing trend as per recent updates.
