A 14-year-old teenager from Clinton Township has been arraigned on charges after allegedly sending a threatening email targeting L’Anse Creuse High School. According to a report by The Detroit News, the girl faces a charge of making a threat of terrorism, which is considered a 20-year felony. The Macomb County Juvenile Court has since ordered her detention without bond at the Macomb County Juvenile Justice Center and has also mandated she undergo a mental health assessment.

Prosecutor Peter Lucido, as stated in a statement obtained by Audacy, declared the Prosecutor’s Office’s stance on school threats to be one of zero tolerance. The incident has reportedly led to a significant disruption for students, staff, and the broader community. Lucido stressed that "This senseless act not only disrupts the lives of students, staff, and the community, but it can have serious, lasting consequences. A single decision made in haste can affect the rest of your life, legally and personally."

Details surrounding the specifics of the threat remain scant, but the Macomb Daily reported that the suspect had been swiftly arrested following the threat’s emergence, which had caused the temporary closure of not just the high school, but also nearby educational facilities including Middle School Central, Graham Elementary School, and the Early Childhood Center. Authorities placed all in an external lockdown as a precautionary measure.

The emotional impact of the incident was palpable, with Adam Lipski, Board President of the L’Anse Creuse Board of Education, struggling to maintain composure during a recent board meeting as he detailed the day's events. "What we did to keep our students and staff safe today was absolutely fantastic," Lipski is quoted saying in a statement obtained by Macomb Daily. His assertion underlines the swift actions taken by school authorities and law enforcement in response to the threat. The board also signaled intentions to strictly enforce the district’s code of conduct, which may include expulsion for the student in question.
