Attention high school students of Cobb County: If you're in grades 9-11 and have a keen interest in government and community service, now's the time to take your ambitions to the next level. The Cobb County Youth Commission is calling for applications for the 2024-2025 term. This program offers more than just a learning experience; it provides an opportunity to grasp the workings of local governance and develop grassroots leadership skills. Additionally, it enhances resumes and college applications. According to the Cobb County Communications, participants engage in creating service projects, hosting town halls, interacting with community leaders, and visiting the state capitol.
The application process includes submitting an endorsement from someone who's observed your growth over the past year—be it a teacher, a counselor, a principal, religious leader, or a community stakeholder. Get those applications and letters of recommendation in by 5 p.m. on September 20. Interested candidates can learn more and apply through Cobb County’s official announcement.
Mark the calendar: October 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., is when the freshly minted Youth Commission convenes at 100 Cherokee Street, Marietta. This is where it all begins, in the 3rd floor Board Room to be precise. Participants will hit the ground running, so punctuality is key.
