A tragic incident unfolded in Colerain Township on Monday evening when a police pursuit ended in a deadly crash, according to local authorities. The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office reported a pursuit of a vehicle, identified with 13 active warrants on its license plate, that ended with a 72-year-old man, Ricky Mills, losing his life.
The chase began just after 5 p.m. on northbound Hamilton Avenue near I-275 and lasted approximately 1 minute and 35 seconds, a mere 1.6 miles, ultimately leading to calamity. During the pursuit, the suspect's vehicle, driven by 33-year-old Khalid James, was involved in multiple collisions, sideswiping one vehicle and then crashing into Mr. Mills at the intersection of W. Kemper Road and Pippin Road. WLWT provided this information.
The suspect, James, sustained severe injuries and was hospitalized under the supervision of deputies. As it stands, the details concerning potential charges against James have yet to be reported, suggesting an active and unfolding investigation.
