A harrowing incident involving a child in a stolen vehicle was resolved with relief as the Columbus Division of Police located a 5-year-old boy unharmed following a tense episode in the Victorian Village neighborhood yesterday. According to WBNS, the child was discovered inside the stolen vehicle near Goodale Park after the police received a distressing call around 3:15 p.m. about the abduction.
The ordeal began when the parent called to report their sleeping child was inside the vehicle, which was stolen while it was operating, prompting an immediate search. During that time, the officers responding went quickly and coordinated swiftly in their efforts to recover the child. By 4:21 p.m., as detailed by authorities and reported by NBC4i, officers were dispatched to the Mount Carmel College of Nursing, where they found the vehicle parked with the child safely inside.
This stroke of good fortune came in stark contrast to the initial fear upon receiving word of the stolen vehicle situation involving the young child caught during an unexpected crime. The Columbus police confirmed, as cited by ABC6 that the child did not sustain any injuries during the incident, which provided some solace amid the turmoil that the family endured.
While the child's safe recovery marks a positive conclusion to a potentially dangerous scenario, the search for the suspect is ongoing as investigators continue to piece together the events that led up to the theft and subsequent recovery of the vehicle. In their pursuit of the suspect, they are combing through evidence, seeking surveillance footage, and canvassing for witnesses who might shed light on the identity of the individual behind the theft.
