Heralding Digital Inclusion Week, a call for the digitally inclined has been issued, the Innovate & Create: Digital Art Challenge aims to weave together threads from every corner of the community to foster digital literacy, and the deadline for this pixel-packed artistic event is none other but September 30, the same day, but make sure to hit send by 8 PM if you're game to showcase your bits and bytes.
Not to be outdone, the Latino Cultural Center is putting out its beacon call for the culture vultures out there, wanting artists/educators to stir up the pot of cultural heritage and fundamentals through visual arts, dance, theater, music, or, you know, whatever other creative potion you can brew for their workshop series. With proposals due by October 4 they're looking for a grand finale that puts a cherry on top of this cultural sundae.
And as the leaves start to change, so do the traditions with Día de los Muertos just around the corner, and the Latino Cultural Center is not missing a beat, putting out the call for altars that capture the essence of remembrance, complete with a community invitation to interpret this tradition through a modern lens or keep it old-school, as long as it’s done with respect. Altarists, you have until October 10 to submit your tributes which can't bring down the house, literally – we're capping them at 6 feet in all dimensions.
