A Detroit man, Lequan Denelle Brown, has been arraigned on charges, including attempted murder, stemming from an alleged road rage incident involving a co-worker. Last Friday, after leaving their workplace, Brown allegedly fired shots at his co-worker's vehicle near the intersection of Van Dyke Avenue and I-696, then later, back at work, he supposedly attacked the victim with a knife, as reported by the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office and detailed by CBS News Detroit.
Bond for the 47-year-old was set at $500,000, and he was ordered to wear a GPS tether if released, and also have no contact with the victim, of this assault case, which places him at risk of up to life in prison if convicted of the assault with intent to murder charges, has indeed caught the attention of the Macomb County community where Prosecutor Pete Lucido stated in a release, "Our community will not tolerate acts of violence, whether in the workplace or on the road," as per The Detroit News.
Further details on the cause of the altercation have not been disclosed; however, the victim who suffered severe lacerations has been released from the hospital, corroborating the information shared across multiple reports including those from CBS News Detroit and The Detroit News.
As it currently stands, Brown faces serious legal repercussions as a habitual third offender with charges of assault with intent to murder, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person; he must undergo a mental health evaluation as well, not to mention the rebuke from the county prosecutor who added that aggressive behavior and road rage are unwelcome in the community, punctuating the severity of accountability measures that will be taken, as reported by WWJ Newsradio.
