
A 34-year-old Detroit man sustained serious injuries Saturday night after crashing a motorcycle that was reported stolen, in downtown Detroit. According to CBS News Detroit, Michigan State Police troopers, initially conducting a traffic stop on Interstate 75, witnessed a group of motorcyclists speeding past them.
The incident occurred approximately around 10:45 p.m. when after concluding their traffic stop, troopers discovered the crash site on Interstate 375 at Jefferson Avenue where they found the injured man on the roadway, while the rest of the group had fled the scene and witnesses at the scene relayed to the authorities that the motorcycle had been moving at a high rate of speed before the accident occurred; the rider appeared to have lost control leading to the crash. Audacy reported that the motorcycle involved was determined to have been stolen out of Jackson.
Emergency services transported the injured man to a hospital for treatment. The MSP Second District shared a status update confirming the individual's Detroit residency and the ongoing nature of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding both the theft and subsequent crash.
