The Detroit Police Department continues their search for two sisters, Dereonna Mobley, 13, and Damira Mobley, 14, who were reported missing since Wednesday after they left their home on Lesure Street, near McNichols and Schaefer Highway, and have not returned. Dereonna measures 5’5” and weighs 90 lbs, while Damira stands slightly taller at 5’6” and weighs 110 lbs, as described in a news release shared by WWJ Newsradio.
Details regarding their appearance at the time of their disappearance have been provided. Dereonna was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue pants, and pink slides, while Damira was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and black-and-white Jordan shoes; their clothing reflects a snapshot of their adolescent world. The Detroit Police have made an urgent appeal to the public for assistance via social media, stating in posts on the department's official Facebook page, "Please help us find serious missing Damira Mobley," with an identical plea for her sister Dereonna.
The Police Department asks anyone with information on the whereabouts of the sisters to immediately contact the Detroit Police 2nd Precinct at (313) 596-5240 or to call 911. The appeal for community support underscores the pressing need to locate the young Mobley sisters promptly, given the vulnerabilities and dangers that missing minors face, especially in a city punctuated by the shadows of economic downturns and social upheaval.
