Barrio Logan, a community within San Diego, is facing the aftermath of a double homicide incident involving two Venezuelan immigrants. According to the City of San Diego's official website, last Saturday, two Hispanic males were shot at approximately 9:39 p.m. In the 1700 block of Newton Avenue, law enforcement found the victims, one deceased at the scene and later identified as 28-year-old Osnaider Silveira and another 23-year-old Junior Alastre, who succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a local hospital. Initial reports had misidentified Silveira's age as 18.

San Diego Police Homicide Detectives have been investigating the case, where it is believed that the two men, along with a third person, were near a parked vehicle when the shooter, later identified as Guillermo David Gonzalez, approached and opened fire. As reported by the City of San Diego website, a female, found unharmed in the backseat, was ordered out of the car before Gonzalez, 23, fled the scene in the white 2012 Kia Forte owned by one of the victims.

The following day, Gonzalez was apprehended without incident in Rosemead, California, per the joint effort of the San Diego Police and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The suspect, hailing from National City, is facing two counts of murder, among other charges. He was booked into San Diego County Jail and was scheduled for arraignmenttoday, according to a Hoodline report.
