Yesterday, Governor Greg Abbott announced a new appointment to the Texas Early Learning Council. Dr. Shruthi Arismendez from Pflugerville will be joining the council that works towards enhancing the quality and access of early childhood services in the state. With an educational background that spans psychology and public health, Arismendez earned her Bachelor of Science from Baylor University followed by a Master of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy from The University of Texas at San Antonio. She is currently leading the Maternal and Child Health Unit at the Department of State Health Services. Involved as a volunteer for the Food Bank of Central Texas, her resume also includes memberships in prominent health associations. As a member of the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs and the American Public Health Association, Dr. Arismendez brings not only her academic expertise but also her practical engagement with health initiatives to the table.
The Texas Early Learning Council operates under the mission of promoting inter-agency collaboration to fortify early childhood education and care throughout Texas.
