
The Duluth Police Department has made an arrest in connection with the fire and death of Maxton Gudowski, which occurred on July 25. On Sunday, September 1, 25-year-old Tyler Edwards was arrested and is facing pending charges, which include 2nd Degree Murder and 1st Degree Arson. The fire, which broke out in the 600 block of N 47th Ave E, had initially raised suspicion due to the circumstances surrounding the death of the 25-year-old Gudowski.
According to a press release by the Duluth Police Department, Edwards is also charged with 2nd Degree Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, and Interference with a Dead Body. Though the investigation into the incident is active and ongoing, no further details have been disclosed by the authorities, the police have confirmed Edwards' link to the case and urge anyone with information related to this incident to come forward.
The investigation into Gudowski's death took a turn after the authorities deemed it suspicious in nature. Prior to the arrest of Edwards, Duluth Police extended their condolences to Gudowski’s family, acknowledging their time of mourning. “DPD sends our condolences to the Gudowski family and his loved ones as they are grieving the loss of Maxton,” the department stated in a release on July 30.
