On September 14th, Fort Worth residents with outstanding citations have the opportunity to settle their cases without fear of arrest during the Court in the Community/Warrant Forgiveness event. This session, hosted by Fort Worth Municipal Court, will be held at Compass Church North Fort Worth from 9 a.m. to noon, as reported by the City of Fort Worth. The event is specifically for individuals with Class C criminal cases such as traffic, ordinance, and penal code violations processed by the court. Services are provided on a first-come, first-served basis, with up to 120 people accommodated for the duration of the event.
"I encourage anyone who has an outstanding citation with the Fort Worth Municipal Court to contact us immediately so we can provide options to move those cases to a final resolution," explains Court Director William Rumuly, as per the City of Fort Worth. Rumuly also emphasized the court's status as a Safe Harbor Court, which assures citizens that they won't be arrested when seeking voluntary resolution of their pending cases.
Further assistance will be offered during the event by community partners. Goodwill North Central Texas will be present, extending a range of services which include employment opportunities, job placement, career counseling, and job readiness skills training. These services come at no cost, and appointments are not needed. For individuals seeking legal aid, the Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas will be on-site to provide general civil intake services.
