After a months-long investigation into the April homicide of Charles Parker Jr., Durham police have announced the arrest of two suspects. Jamar Beulah, 27, and Jaylen Steele, 24, face charges related to the case that has haunted a block of North Miami Boulevard. According to WRAL, Beulah has been charged with second-degree murder and Steele with accessory after the fact, with neither man currently eligible for bond.
The arrests occurred nearly five months after officers discovered Parker suffering from a gunshot wound early in the morning on April 19. Despite being quickly transported to the hospital, Parker ultimately succumbed to his injuries. As reported by CBS17, the police are still encouraging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
Further complicating matters for Beulah is a spate of additional charges. The News & Observer has discovered court records indicating Beulah's alleged involvement in a convenience store robbery on May 12, where he faces charges for possession of a firearm by a felon and robbery with a dangerous weapon. Both suspects are currently held in the Durham County Jail and were not granted bail, as they await further legal proceedings.
