A fatal collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle has resulted in a complete shutdown of the Transmountain West before Dyer. According to KVIA, the incident occurred Saturday evening just before 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Bomarc and Woodrow Bean in Northeast El Paso, where the aftermath of the crash claimed the life of one individual.
Following the collision, the El Paso Police Department's Special Traffic Investigation Unit responded to the site to ascertain the events that led to the fatality; the unit is typically dispatched to serious incidents involving death or severe injuries, the Special Traffic Investigation Unit typically is dispatched to scenes of severe traffic accidents, wherein this case, it appears they have a grim task before them. Drivers experienced minor delays as a result of the road closure with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) advising that the clearing time will be until further notice, and the backup is reported as minor, says TxDOT, as per KTSM.
The Labor Day weekend has historically been a period of heightened vigilance on the road, with the El Paso Police Department partnering with the Texas Department of Transportation in a statewide campaign to reduce impaired driving which runs from August 1 to September 30, during the same holiday weekend last year, despite multiple alcohol-related traffic incidents, there were fortunately no fatalities or severe injuries reported, according to El Paso Times.
