An Elk Grove man is behind bars after local police officers, recognizing him as someone on probation, conducted a probation search late Friday night. The search extended from the man's person to his vehicle, and later to his home where officers seized considerable amounts of illegal substances and firearms. The Elk Grove Police Department shared details of the bust on their Facebook page, claiming a substantial find of drugs and weapons.
According to the Elk Grove Police Department Facebook post, the haul included over two pounds each of cocaine and ketamine, in excess of six pounds of Adderall pills, more than 100 grams of Hydrocodone pills, over 14 grams of Methamphetamine, and a staggering number of Clonazepam pills totaling over 3,400. Cash totaling over $3,000 was also seized along with a taser, three rifles, a shotgun, a handgun, multiple magazines, and plenty of ammunition. The police celebrated the seizure as a result of the "outstanding work of our patrol officers!"
The identity of the man has not been released, his charges, however, are expected to be significant. The legal repercussions of such an inventory of illegal items seem to point towards an extensive period of incarceration, as the subtext of the Elk Grove Police Department's announcement makes clear. While the police department has not offered official statements beyond the Facebook post, the extent of the seizure is indicative of a larger, ongoing issue concerning drugs and firearms in local communities.
