Roadwork is about to hit Rancho Santa Fe Road starting tomorrow, September 3. Construction will run from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. According to the City of San Marcos, this marks the beginning of the Rancho Santa Fe Pavement Restoration Project, which is planned to last a few weeks.
Drivers can expect to navigate through a maze of construction signs. A southbound lane closure will allow crews to get dirty with concrete demolition and an electrician installing new wires. The southbound bike lane and patches of the sidewalk will not be spared from the impact. Once the southbound area is resurrected, workers will gaze northward and bestow the same renewal on the northbound side. Two-way traffic will be maintained, but delays are certain, prompting the city to advise seeking alternate routes.
The construction teams will roll out a test performance in late September featuring the cold-in-place recycling paving method. This technique removes, recycles, and reuses existing asphalt to improve the roadway.
