Yesterday, a resident on the lookout in Fairfield's neighborhood near Pear Tree Lane and Union Avenue spied a pair engaging in what looked like a classic mail theft case. The Fairfield Police Department, tipped off by the observant local, made swift moves to apprehend the duo. According to a community alert by the Fairfield Police Department, officers were at the scene post-haste, catching the pair with hands not just in the proverbial cookie jar but rummaging through the mail and stashing items into a backpack before 7 am.
Upon inspection, putting the pieces together was no small feat for Fairfield's Finest. The backpack yielded a trove of ill-gotten gains, stolen mail, credit cards, checks, and identification documents. Tacked onto those finds, a records check unveiled that one of the accused, 39-year-old Jarmol Okpalaugo, had outstanding warrants from neighboring Solano and Napa Counties.
The two Fairfield residents, Okpalaugo and his accomplice, 30-year-old Andrea Gardiner, were ushered off to the Solano County Jail, slapped with charges of conspiracy, mail theft, and identity theft, alongside related drug charges, with Okpalaugo getting an extra booking for his prior outstanding warrants.
