Last night, the roles were reversed when a man pretending to be a police officer was caught after using fake emergency lights to pull over a car on US 59 near Fostoria Rd. The targeted vehicle was carrying a group of young women, which makes the situation especially troubling given the potential risks involved.
The suspect might have briefly gotten away, heading north after the incident. However, the Splendora Police Department acted quickly, sharing information with neighboring counties. Real police officers then promptly closed in on the fake officer. As per a Facebook post by Splendora PD, it was the vigilant deputies in San Jacinto County who spotted and stopped the sham officer in his tracks.
The Splendora Police Department teamed up with the San Jacinto County Sheriff's Office to arrest the impersonator, who is now charged with Impersonating a Police Officer. After the arrest, the suspect was taken to the Montgomery County Jail.
