A two-vehicle collision claimed the lives of two individuals on North Lamb Boulevard earlier this week. As reported by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the incident, involving a 2012 GMC Yukon Denali and a 2008 Nissan Sentra, occurred on the afternoon of Saturday. According to authorities, the GMC was traveling at a high speed when it collided with the Nissan at the intersection with Kell Lane.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department detailed that at around 4:29 p.m., the Sentra was at a stop sign and initiated a crossing, only to be struck by the oncoming GMC. The impact was sufficient to instantly end the lives of the Sentra's driver, a 67-year-old male, and his 54-year-old passenger, who both died at the scene. Their deaths have been recorded as the 109th and 110th traffic-related fatalities within the jurisdiction this year. Meanwhile, the juvenile driver of the GMC and his 11-year-old passenger both sustained minor injuries and were taken to the University Medical Center for treatment.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Collision Investigation Section is thoroughly reviewing the crash. As families are notified and the investigation continues, more details about the collision's cause are expected.
The two juveniles in the GMC Yukon Denali, who are local to Las Vegas, are expected to make full recoveries. The names of the deceased, at the time of reporting, are withheld pending notification of next of kin.
