A grave collision involving a pickup truck and an SUV in Las Vegas has left one person dead and another in critical condition. The incident, occurring in the early hours of September 2nd at the crossing of N. Eastern Avenue and Searles Avenue, involved three vehicles and resulted in the 101st traffic-related fatality in the area for the year, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's preliminary investigation reveals that a Chevrolet Tahoe was navigating westbound on Searles Avenue when it was hit by a RAM 2500 that was speeding southbound on N. Eastern Avenue. Subsequently, the RAM rolled over, striking a luminary support and a power utility pole. Post the initial impact, the GMC Sierra, also traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on N. Eastern Avenue, crashed into the rear the Chevrolet.
The tragedy escalated when the Chevrolet's driver, a 33-year-old male from North Las Vegas, succumbed to his injuries at UMC, where both he and the RAM's driver, identified as 18-year-old Francisco Ruiz Ramos Jr., had been transported for advanced medical care. Ruiz Ramos, currently in critical condition, and the driver of the GMC, Alfredo Chavez Rios aged 18, are both facing charges for reckless driving resulting in death and serious bodily harm. Chavez Rios, who suffered minor injuries, was not found to be impaired at the collision scene, as per Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
