Last night in Littleton, New Hampshire, a fatal shooting occurred after an apparent road rage incident where a man was chased and his car repeatedly struck by another driver, culminating in gunfire. According to a joint news release by New Hampshire Attorney General John M. Formella, New Hampshire State Police Colonel Mark B. Hall, and Littleton Police Chief Paul J. Smith, officers received a 911 call after 11 p.m. from a man reporting that he was being pursued aggressively by another motorist. This information was reported by Boston 25 News.
Upon arrival at the scene near 33 Pleasant Street, police discovered two vehicles that had been involved in a crash and heard gunshots shortly thereafter. The 911 caller was found alongside another man who had sustained several gunshot wounds. The injured man was rushed to a hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Officials from the attorney general's office confirmed that both the caller and the deceased knew each other prior to the shooting, although the precise dynamics of their relationship and what might have triggered the deadly altercation remain under investigation. As of now, the authorities stated that there is no known threat to the public stemming from this incident.
An autopsy was scheduled to understand the full extent of the injuries and possibly provide more clarity into this tragic sequence of events. In the meantime, the identities of the individuals involved have not been divulged. Local residents with information, particularly those who witnessed or heard the crash on Union or Cottage streets, have been urged to aid law enforcement by contacting the New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit.
