In the early hours of Saturday, a fatal collision involving a wrong-way driver and a Lynx bus left one man dead in Osceola County. The crash occurred around 2:15 a.m. on South Poinciana Boulevard, just north of Yorkshire Lane, and involved a Hyundai Tucson SUV and a small Lynx transport bus, as reported by WESH.
The bus was traveling northbound when it encountered the SUV, driven by a 30-year-old Poinciana woman, maneuvering south in the northbound lane. While trying to evade a collision, the bus driver swerved but could not prevent the SUV from striking the left side of the bus, leading to the bus overturning off the roadside onto its right side, according to ClickOrlando.
The resulting accident sent all individuals involved to Osceola Regional Medical Center. It was here, as stated by the Florida Highway Patrol, that a 33-year-old Kissimmee man, who was aboard the bus at the time of the incident and had not been wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead. The bus driver, a 35-year-old Kissimmee man, and another passenger sustained minor injuries, while the SUV's driver suffered severe injuries during the crash.
The names of the victims have not been released pending notification of next of kin.
