Five teenagers have been arrested and charged with a series of vehicle burglaries in the Nashville area, targeting locations such as the Hampton Inn, Estates at Brentwood, and Hickory Point Apartments. According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, the group was caught after police responded to reports and located the suspects attempting to quickly depart in a stolen white Hyundai sedan.
The series of events leading to the arrests began when officers initially responded to the Hampton Inn, where the suspects had already fled the scene. They then received subsequent reports of break-ins at the Estates of Brentwood and the Hickory Point Apartments. It was during these sequences of events that an MNPD helicopter spotted the suspect vehicle at an adjacent apartment complex, ultimately leading to the capture of the young men after they reportedly tried to hurriedly leave the area.
Among those apprehended was 18-year-old Demarian Couch, in possession of a stolen firearm and subsequently charged with six counts of burglary of a motor vehicle, theft of a firearm, joyriding, and evading arrest. The four other teens—two aged 16 and two aged 17, are being charged in Juvenile Court. Their charges include burglary of a motor vehicle, evading arrest, joyriding, and possession of burglary tools.
The recovered Hyundai had notable damage, with several broken windows and a stripped ignition column. Upon contact, the vehicle's owner confirmed that it had been stolen. Stolen property and burglary tools were found to once again be possessed by the teens, indicating a potential link to additional vehicle break-ins and related crimes, which remain under investigation by local authorities.
