The suspect in a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a 26-year-old man in June has been arrested, as per authorities. Danny Botley, 37, was taken into custody last week in Flint, Michigan, related to the incident that occurred at a duplex residence on Jutland Road. In a news release, the Houston Police Department stated Botley is charged with murder in the 184th State District Court and awaits extradition back to Harris County.
On the early morning of June 22, around 4:30 a.m., the victim, identified as Devin Bell, was found unresponsive, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. According to the Houston Police Department's Homicide Division, the emergency personnel pronounced Mr. Bell deceased at the scene. At the scene, lying in the driveway, officers with the Houston Fire Department responded and found the victim after receiving a call regarding the shooting.
Initially, witnesses suggested an altercation between Bell and an unidentified suspect may have led to the fatal shooting. After an extended investigation, Danny Botley was identified as the suspect, and formal charges were filed against him on July 31. The circumstances of the argument and the connection between Botley and Bell remain unclear as the investigation is ongoing.
Without incident, Botley was apprehended on August 29 by the Flint Police Department officers. The arrest was confirmed by the report, which included a photo of the suspect now in custody. As the legal proceedings move forward, Botley remains in Michigan pending the outcome of his extradition hearing.
