The Milwaukee Police Department has released harrowing body camera footage from an officer-involved shooting that took place on September 5 near 91st and Custer, leaving three officers wounded and the suspect injured. According to a Fox6 report, Keith Jeter, the 35-year-old suspect, exchanged gunfire with the officers at an apartment building during an attempted arrest for multiple charges including domestic violence and sexual assault.
During the standoff, Jeter, who was wanted for several crimes, fired shots at officers, wounding three. As mentioned in the WISN article, the intense footage shows Jeter telling the officers to kill him, stating, "I'm not going to jail, just kill me," to which an officer responded, "No one needs to die." This situation left the officers to return fire in the defense of their own lives, injuring Jeter in the process.
The CBS58 coverage reveals that the officers involved were veterans of the police force, with two having served over 19 years and one over 21 years. All injured officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while Jeter was arrested and taken to a hospital for treatment of his own non-life-threatening injuries. Subsequently, Jeter, having thrown two guns out before being taken into custody, is now facing serious charges.
