Fort Worth's efforts to distribute surplus personal protective equipment (PPE) to local businesses continue, as the City Council has decided to extend the program with additional phases. Originally launched in June of 2023, the first phase wrapped up earlier this year in January. With a significant inventory of masks on hand, the city is now broadening its scope and inviting businesses with a permanent address in Fort Worth to apply for the PPE Donation Program, as reported by the City of Fort Worth.
The current stockpile includes an ample supply of masks, though hand sanitizer has run out. The city council's decision to keep the support rolling out is a bid to not only reduce potential waste but to support local businesses in maintaining health and safety standards. Applications are to be submitted exclusively via an online form, which demands to be fully completed; any supporting documentation must be attached as well.
Fort Worth officials have indicated that while they aim to fulfill every request, they will distribute the PPE on a first-come, first-serve basis. This means that timeliness is of the essence for interested parties. The city has set a deadline for submissions: October 31st, or until supplies have been exhausted, whichever comes first. Hence, businesses are encouraged to submit their requests promptly to secure their share of the equipment.
