In a move to more deeply understand and promptly respond to the needs of businesses in Fort Worth, the City's Economic Development Department has rolled out a Business Retention & Expansion (BRE) survey. Focused on cultivating a robust local economy, the survey seeks to directly engage with business leaders, pinpointing their immediate and long-term challenges and opportunities.

Key to the survey is an emphasis on workforce development, a critical factor for ensuring that businesses in Fort Worth cannot only find but also effectively train local talent capable of filling essential roles within their organizations. As the feedback from these surveys starts pouring in, the hope is to more accurately tailor resources and support to help businesses adapt and prosper in varying economic climates.

According to the City of Fort Worth, this initiative extends an open invitation to business leaders in industries ranging from aerospace and defense to healthcare and life sciences. Other segments include advanced manufacturing, aviation, higher education, cultural and hospitality sectors, energy, mobility, and logistics, as well as research institutions. The collection of such broad feedback is poised to create a more comprehensive understanding of the business landscape in Fort Worth, and in turn, inform future economic strategies.

"Companies' needs change over time – not only as they grow, but as they navigate evolving situations like fluctuating market conditions or supply chain issues," Robert Sturns, the City’s economic development director, explained, as per the City of Fort Worth. His remarks highlight the dynamic nature of business operations and the value of city authorities working in close collaboration with the private sector.
