A disturbing robbery in Framingham has put the community on high alert as police seek the public's assistance in tracking down the suspect. According to NBC Boston, on a Thursday morning, surveillance footage captured a man, masked and potentially armed, assaulting a woman soon after she exited a check cashing business. The incident occurred just outside of So Remessas Check Cashing store on Waverly Street.
Approximately around 9:30 a.m., the video shows the suspect, chasing the woman, garbed in an all-black attire, eventually overpowering and dragging her to the ground. As she struggled to retain her backpack, the assailant succeeded in snatching it away before fleeing in a dark-colored Honda Pilot. In an interview obtained by CBS News, her nephew expressed the family's distress, saying that it was the third such targeting of the check cashing business in the past year, leaving employees frequently feeling vulnerable.
The victim, who remains anonymous for her protection, suffered bruises and scrapes through the ordeal, her nephew related. Recounting the harrowing experience, the nephew voiced concern for their safety, emphasizing the breaching of an assumed safe space in the middle of the day.
Following the attack and an attempted break-in at the same check cashing business just days prior, relatives are calling for the responsible individuals to be apprehended in order to restore peace and safety to the community. "Just hope that they are able to find the culprit and bring safety back to the city because it is needing it," the victim’s nephew told CBS News. Anyone with knowledge about the incidents has been asked to contact Framingham Police Department promptly to assist in their investigation.
