
Residents in Frisco can breathe a little easier after a 'shelter in place' advisory was lifted following a chemical fire at a local pool supply company. According to the City of Frisco, the Frisco Fire Department responded to the incident at Texas Pool Supply on 10550 John W. Elliott, #100, with the fire being reported yesterday.
The blaze, which involved chlorine and 'pool shock' chemicals like trichlor & sodium, was extinguished by 9:28 a.m., the Frisco Fire Marshal confirmed. While the air quality is currently being monitored, no harmful readings have been detected. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has also joined the response, sending a crew to the scene to assess the situation further.
Firefighters from the neighboring departments like Little Elm, The Colony, Plano, Prosper, and McKinney offered mutual aid, showcasing the collaborative spirit of our emergency services. The industrial park located east of John W. Elliott is still off-limits, as crews continue their investigation into the fire's origins and ensure the area is safe.
Two members of the Frisco Fire Department have been transported to Medical Center Plano as a precautionary measure, according to the City of Frisco. Their current condition is not yet released, but the transport was made as the safety protocol for those potentially exposed to chemical hazards during firefighting operations. Access to the affected area will remain closed until further notice, ensuring public safety as crews work diligently to secure the scene.
