For residents and commuters in Frisco, the ongoing roadwork initiatives signal both hope for smoother rides and imminent travel disruption. A slew of pavement replacements and intersection improvements are in effect across the city, with an estimated two-week completion time for most projects, weather permitting. The city has advised motorists to plan for potential delays and alternative routes as these infrastructure efforts take place, according to the City of Frisco.
Starting with new pavement replacement, the stretch of road at 11201 Preston Rd. is currently under construction. While not specified, the surrounding community should brace for the inconvenience typically brought about by such deep infrastructural changes. Moreover, works at 7804 Quiet Meadow Ln., Shady Brook Ln., and Prestwick Dr., along with the 5200-5500 block of Promise Land Dr., and Port Edwards Ln. remain ongoing.
Highlighting a critical concern for daily commuters, the City of Frisco's Intersection Improvements Project is poised to affect traffic flow significantly. Daily lane closures from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. are expected at key intersections—elemental crossings etching the routes of countless citizens going about their routines. Notable among these is the intersection at Stonebrook Pkwy. /FM 423 that began revision on May 8.
More expansive efforts at Preston Rd. /Main St. has entered Phase 2 which spans from Jan. 31 to the third quarter of 2024. Similarly, Wade Blvd. / Preston Rd. has been a site of construction since Nov. 2023 with completion projected for the same quarter.
