Hawai‘i's chief ambassador will lead a group of local businesses at the Tokyo International Gift Show. Governor Green aims to strengthen connections, boost commerce, and highlight Hawaii's entrepreneurial spirit. He will also meet with U.S. Ambassador to Japan Rahm Emanuel and talk with leaders from three Japanese prefectures: Fukuoka, Ehime, and Hiroshima, as reported by the Governor's Office.
While Governor Green takes this journey, back at home there's a change at the helm, as Lieutenant Governor Sylvia Luke steps into the role of acting Governor from September 2 in the afternoon through the morning of September 11, when the island’s leader is due to return to his post in Honolulu and the daily duties awaiting there.
