According to the LBPD, a security guard attempted to disarm an armed individual during the incident, during which the weapon was fired. The groups involved fled, leaving behind the firearm which was later recovered by officers. The suspect, who suffered a gunshot wound in the upper body, was detained after self-transporting to a hospital.
Meanwhile, in another tragic event, a motorcyclist lost their life in a traffic incident on Long Beach Boulevard and 45th Street. Occurring last Saturday, the collision is still under investigation by Traffic Fatality detectives.
