In the spirit of community support and remembrance, Haltom City residents are rallying together for a coat drive named in honor of a beloved school resource officer who passed away due to complications from COVID-19. According to the Haltom City Police Department, the Hutch's Kids coat drive collects new or gently used coats for children attending Haltom schools, ensuring that the chill of the coming winter is met with the warmth of community generosity.
The drive pays tribute to Officer Hutchison, who was remembered for his service at North Oaks Middle School and Haltom Middle School. Those interested in contributing can drop off donations at various locations, including the PD lobby, the library, the Senior Center, and Birdville Baptist Church on Carson St.
For more information on how to participate or to learn more about the coat drive, interested parties can contact the designated drop-off points or visit the Haltom City Police Department's social media pages.
