A spill in West Santa Rosa has resulted in major road closures and a hazmat situation, as reported by the Santa Rosa Police Department. The incident occurred when several totes, each holding around 275 gallons of a liquid product, fell from a truck, leading to considerable spills.
The aftermath has led to a significant disruption in traffic. According to an update on the Santa Rosa Police Department's Facebook page, complete street closures are in effect on N Dutton Ave from W 9th to Hewitt St. Additionally, the post indicates closures at multiple intersections, including N Dutton Ave at Trowbridge St, Hewitt St, and W 9th St, as well as all side streets between W 9th St and Hewitt St.
Further traffic restrictions include lane closures on Guerneville Rd at Cleveland Ave and WB Cleveland Ave at Steele Ln. Affected by the spill, the Steele Ln at Hwy 101 ramps to Cleveland Ave is also closed, along with the SB Hwy 101 offramp at Steele Ln.
The Santa Rosa Police and Fire Departments are on the scene, with assistance from CHP, to address the situation and manage the cleanup process. Despite the scale of the spill, there have been no calls for evacuations. The public has been advised to avoid the impacted and surrounding areas. The police department's social media post promised to keep the community informed, "We will update the public when roads and intersections are opened as the clean up progresses."
